GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Mech-Tronics Model 511 combines a fast variable gain amplifier and adjustable threshold discriminator in a single width NIM module. Both fast negative (32 ma, 10 nsec.) and slow positive (4 volt, 40nsec.) discriminator outputs assure compatibility with NIM counting instrumentation. The low level input accepts the negative charge output of available electron multipliers, photomultipliers and channel electron multipliers. Because true gain controls, and not attenuators, are used in the amplifier section, electronic noise is constant, independent of sensitivity and well below threshold. |
